About the Role
Supervises the overall functions of the warehouse, including shipping and receiving, inventory control, issuing materials, putting away materials, and tracking in the ERP system.
Responsibilities
- Oversee receiving, warehousing, and distribution.
- Supervise inventory control, shipping and receiving, and material issue and put-away.
- Comply with Sterling Foods food safety procedures, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on needed actions.
- Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures.
- Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacements.
- Achieve financial objectives by assisting in preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage systems.
- Complete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Enforce policies and maintain warehouse results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Supervisory Responsibility
Seven (10) direct reports.

- Forklift
- Pallet jack
- Other warehouse equipment as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (College or technical school preferred).
- At least 3 years of warehouse experience, including supervisory experience.
Employee Safety

- All incidents must be immediately reported to the supervisor on duty.
- Failure to comply with safety policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including separation of employment.
- The primary responsibility is to perform duties in a safe manner to prevent injury to themselves and others.
Food Safety
- Employees must work under high food safety standards to maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
- Demonstrate an active role in maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment to minimize the risk of product contamination.
- Failure to comply with food safety policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including separation of employment.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to supervise warehouse staff across shifts.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (e.g., SAP, Ross, Oracle).
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong customer service skills (internal and external).
- Strong mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to multitask.
- Attention to detail.
- Supervision, developing budgets, safety management, developing standards, managing processes, inventory control, reporting skills, analyzing information, equipment maintenance, judgment.
