Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areas including:
    • Filling and shipping customer orders, satisfying internal shipping requirements, ensuring accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation.
    • Receiving goods/items from production, packaging assemblies and receiving into finished goods, ensuring inventory transactions are accurately logged.
    • Overseeing cycle counts and reconciliation activities.
  • Measure and report the effectiveness of department activities.
  • Develop and maintain departmental work instructions for all tasks.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by customer commitments, production schedules and work flow.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Recommend measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance.
  • Continuously improve warehouse operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serve internal customers.
  • People management responsibilities including hiring, training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to make calculations such as freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • 3+ years of warehouse experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with lean methodologies.
  • Forklift certification.
  • APICS/CPIM certification is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time.
  • Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer.
