Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areas including:
- Filling and shipping customer orders, satisfying internal shipping requirements, ensuring accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation.
- Receiving goods/items from production, packaging assemblies and receiving into finished goods, ensuring inventory transactions are accurately logged.
- Overseeing cycle counts and reconciliation activities.
- Measure and report the effectiveness of department activities.
- Develop and maintain departmental work instructions for all tasks.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by customer commitments, production schedules and work flow.
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
- Recommend measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance.
- Continuously improve warehouse operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serve internal customers.
- People management responsibilities including hiring, training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to make calculations such as freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages.
- Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- 3+ years of warehouse experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with lean methodologies.
- Forklift certification.
- APICS/CPIM certification is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time.
- Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer.
