Responsibilities
- Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, and shipping parts and supplies.
- Develop and implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities.
- Monitor air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of parts and supplies.
- Interview, select, and train warehouse and supervisory personnel.
- Confer with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities.
- Respond to customers' or shippers' questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.
- Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets and equipment, and order testing, maintenance, repair, or replacement as necessary.
- Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.
- Listen to and resolve customer complaints regarding services, products, or personnel.
- Direct and supervise employees engaged in inventory-taking, reconciling inventory, or performing specific tasks such as loading or unloading unusually large items.
- Provide staff with assistance in performing difficult or complicated duties.
- Provide assistance or direction to stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers when required.
- Plan and prepare work schedules, and assign employees to specific duties.
- Examine products purchased for resale or received for storage to determine product condition.
- Dispose of damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors.
- Any and all duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Average Associate Degree is required; Bachelor's degree in management or related business field is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other business software applications is required.
- Five to ten years working in a warehousing facility is required. Management experience desired.
- Experience with warehouse management software preferred.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, bend and stoop to perform the essential functions of this job.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
