About the role
The Warehouse Supervisor oversees the general operations of the warehouse including training, scheduling of staff, securing resources, auditing against policy and procedure, and coaching for higher levels of performance. This role is responsible for safe and efficient operational performance with a defined focus on people and processes.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate team-member safety and food-safety through all you do
- Communicate with the warehouse team in methods that are easily understood by all
- Service our customers at or above the levels set by the company
- Maintain GDP certification and score of Excellent (96-100) in pursuit of Food Certification
- Communicates the needs of the operation regarding staffing levels, supplies, resources, with your manager
- Plan and schedule resources sufficient for the workload
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes that improve safety, quality, productivity, and service
- Operational Management
- Train the warehouse in the practices, procedures, and policies to ensure consistent performance and results
- Monitor the unloading and storage of materials; ensure receiving reports and transactions are accurate and timely
- Monitor the picking, verifying, and loading of materials; ensure shipping reports and transactions are accurate and timely
- Identify, develop, and implement procedural changes to improve safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of the operation
- Request the needed resources (equipment, supplies, labor) to your manager and provide the needed justification
- High level of involvement in ‘systems’ expertise
- Lead the ‘user acceptance’ testing of new functionality
- Aid your manager with administrative duties including payroll, reports, and meeting preparation/delivery
- Team Development
- Observe, Coach, and Guide team members in their individual knowledge and skills progression
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to team members and maintain a high level of accountability
- Track the ‘skills progression’ achievement of team members and ensure that people are staying current
- Develop yourself by staying current on industry and business trends
- Share what you are learning with others
Requirements
- 5+ years of supervisory experience leading teams, coaching performance, managing priorities, and supporting day-to-day operational execution
- Proficiency in communicating with others in both written and spoken
- Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- MS Office suite including the ability to create, edit, save, share, and work with common business files
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize and separate the signal from the noise
- Leadership and the ability to gain buy-in from others without using your role as a primary means of power
- Orientation towards teamwork and collaboration where people are included, aware, involved, and appreciated
- Relevant warehouse experience and operational expertise, with a strong understanding of warehouse processes, safety, inventory control, and service requirements
Physical Demands

- The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
