About the role

Travis Association for the Blind/Austin Lighthouse (TAB) is a non-profit organization founded in 1934 to provide skills and products for sale, focusing on offering economic and personal independence to people who are blind, visually impaired, or deaf blind through employment.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately count and deliver partial, single and multiple box orders to the production areas.
  • Leave pallets neat with no loose product.
  • Calculate and balance a reasonable cartload of products and triwalls.
  • Construct and secure packing boxes.
  • Quality check orders.
  • Correctly ship filled orders of various types.
  • Restock the production area.
  • Follow Security, safety, and organizational policies always.
  • Complies with and assists other employees in understanding and complying with TAB's policies and procedures.
  • Behaves in accordance with the key behaviors aligned with TAB's Core Values of Leadership, Integrity, Growth & Innovation, Heart and Teamwork (LIGHT).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Demonstrates sound work ethics
  • Possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Be punctual and dependable
  • Show good manual dexterity
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Team building skills

  • None

Communication & Contacts Required

  • Employees, departments, managers

Decision Making/Judgment Required

  • Make decisions as per Standard Operation Procedures and Company Policies

Physical Requirements

  • With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to:
  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer
  • Ability to be in a stationary position (stand/sit) for 4-8 hours
  • Ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs. at times
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, adjust position for 20% of time
  • Ability to work in conditions with varying temperature, including cold and/or heat
  • Transporting 500 + pounds of product on carts and pallet jacks.
