About the Role

The DC Safety Coordinator/Team Lead is responsible for driving and ensuring safety awareness across all shifts in the distribution center. In this strategic safety support role, you will closely support distribution center leadership and the company Safety Director in developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies, procedures, training, inspections, and audits. You will ensure DC safety and security measures are followed, monitor and issue associate and contractor access badges, and assist with EHS inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety awareness and cultivate a safety culture within the distribution center.
  • Work cooperatively with distribution center management, supervisors, leads, co-workers, and support departments.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all job responsibilities.
  • Complete assigned safety projects and tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Conduct safety training (new hire, refresher, job-specific, powered industrial truck) for associates and contractors.
  • Inspect working conditions to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare ad hoc safety reports detailing inspection processes and other activities.
  • Coordinate accident investigations, safety review meetings, and safety committee meetings.
  • Suggest revisions to operational processes and employee activities that do not meet health and safety expectations.
  • Address workplace-related health and safety issues and accidents.
  • Collaborate with distribution center leadership to monitor compliance and identify health and safety issues.
  • Generate and analyze daily monitoring reports and impacts in i-warehouse software.
  • Ensure all powered industrial truck (PIT) safety training records are current and perform weekly accuracy checks.
  • Maintain safe, organized, and clean work areas according to general warehousing/office practices and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct health and safety audits on operational compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in post-injury and incident investigations and evaluations.
  • Inspect lift safety equipment such as fire exits, emergency lights, fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency eye washes, and other safety equipment.
  • Coordinate safety training for associates with Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), including classroom and floor practical certifications.
  • Perform security functions, such as monitoring associates when entering the building and issuing badges.
  • Lead and drive participation on the DC safety committee across all shifts.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Prior Environmental, Health, and Safety experience in distribution center environments.
  • Knowledge of appropriate emergency response protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent attendance and willingness to be part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel (Intermediate to Advanced).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and conduct research.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work under pressure, and fast learner.
  • Flexibility to work and support DC shift schedules as required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
  • Prior safety and warehouse experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 Hour or 30 Hour Certifications.
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work is typically carried out in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and physical demands. Work hours may vary based on safety support, training needs, and operational schedules.

  • Microsoft Office with an intermediate focus on Excel.
