About the role

A production role focused on operating, maintaining, and monitoring machinery while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, clean, and monitor production machinery and equipment following standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of products and materials to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, escalating significant concerns to supervisors as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including output quantities, downtime, and encountered issues, and complete required documentation such as logs, inspection reports, and incident reports.
  • Follow all safety protocols, maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas, and adhere to good housekeeping practices.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on machinery and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Properly handle, store, and label raw materials and finished products to maintain organization and inventory accuracy.
  • Report to work on time, adhere to the schedule, and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Provide support across all Medford departments, including saw operations, extrusion molding, and shipping/receiving, when not engaged in manufacturing.
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts and stock control processes.
  • Help train and onboard new staff members.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet production goals and foster positive relationships across departments.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with colleagues to promote a cohesive and supportive work environment.
  • Develop and manage the production schedule, ensuring timely communication with Customer Service to align with order requirements.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate production machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and recording production data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement complex procedures from general instructions and to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, bandsaw, and panel saw.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for more than 5.5 hours per day, walking for more than 5 hours per day, and sitting for over 1 hour per day.
  • Operating a forklift for approximately 0.5 hours daily.
  • Frequent overhead and forward reaching, as well as climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, twisting, and exposure to high heat.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to perform position changes are essential.
  • Pushing and pulling with both arms and legs.
  • Lifting and carrying items ranging from 5–10 pounds to over 50 pounds.
  • Wearing protective equipment as necessary and performing repetitive motions.
  • Physical endurance, attention to detail, problem-solving, memory recall, communication, and adaptability are critical.
  • Sensory requirements include hearing, depth perception, and visual acuity, with some tasks requiring color vision.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic physical and mental tasks, maintain focus on detailed work, and function effectively in various conditions.
