About the Role
This position is responsible for receiving USDA Commodity foods and managing inventory control. The Warehouse Tech will operate heavy machinery such as pallet jacks and forklifts to unload food shipments.
Responsibilities
- Manually count all received inventory.
- Stack and palletize food items.
- Track food orders and document work for USDA-required monthly inventory reports (Damaged/Temperature Chart).
- Inspect food for quality and maintain a daily count of damaged products on the appropriate form.
- Pre-weight and bag all fresh produce items before distribution to participants.
- Assist with issuing participant orders in the SYGNAL system as needed.
- Help participants carry and load food orders into vehicles.
- Assist with delivering monthly food orders to participants.
- Answer incoming calls, take messages, and forward them to the appropriate person.
- Treat participants respectfully and non-judgmentally.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all participant services.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1-5 years of office-related experience preferred.
- Previous forklift experience or training certification preferred (certification will be provided).
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Qualifications
- Basic reading, math, typing, and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Windows).
- Ability to follow all safety rules and wear appropriate foot protection and clothing for warehouse conditions.
- Strong communication skills to understand written and verbal work orders and instructions.
- Organizational skills to track inventory and maintain a clean work area.
- Reliability, dependability, and a demonstrated work history of safety, efficiency, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, walking, kneeling, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
