Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring daily warehouse productivity and downtime goals are met through consistent teammate engagement.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of 30 to 50 warehouse associates.
- Promote, support, and enforce safety programs and procedures, including OSHA, DOT, and HAACP, to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes, streamline workflows, and increase overall efficiency.
- Enforce quality control processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
- Ensure all equipment necessary for shipping and receiving are accounted for at the start and end of shift.
- Conduct daily pre-shift headcount against weekly manpower reports.
- Ensure warehouse associates have all equipment and supplies necessary to perform their job.
- Work with other Shift Supervisors to keep warehouse manpower balanced to ensure daily efficient workflow.
- Move between all areas of the warehouse as required or directed to ensure consistent communication across the warehouse.
- Report and monitor machine breakdowns to reduce a delay in production.
- Conduct daily work quality and time on task checks throughout the shift and act as needed to correct exceptions to work quality and time on task goals.
- Conduct initial warehouse safety incident investigation reports and submit them to the Safety Manager.
- Assign and supervise daily sanitation tasks needed to ensure warehouse sanitation goals.
- Responsible for warehouse equipment, inventory, startup, flow, load quality, safety, and sanitation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Associates degree Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred;
- 4+ years of experience in a supervisor or leadership role;
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Distribution industry experience a plus.
- Able to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of management.
- Proper sense of urgency with all levels of management and employees.
