WAREHOUSE LEAD I - 2ND SHIFT (391)

About the role

This position oversees all warehouse operations at the Bloomingdale location, ensuring efficient receiving, storage, and shipping of materials to and from contract manufacturers. The role involves monitoring shift performance, recommending efficiency improvements, and leading a team to meet daily department goals.

Responsibilities

• Unload and receive shipments; transport product to manufacturing; prepare outbound freight shipments.
• Monitor receiving and shipping traffic to optimize dock utilization and material flow.
• Work with supervisor to track shift performance, correct issues, and escalate as needed to meet goals.
• Recommend changes to equipment use and staffing to increase efficiency.
• Collaborate with leads, supervisors, and support teams to resolve issues.
• Recommend and implement measures to improve safety, product quality, warehouse methods, and equipment performance.
• Adjust employee work duties and make warehouse-related decisions.
• Mentor and train employees, including new hires, reinforcing company policies, culture, and expectations.
• Identify training gaps and ensure all employees complete required training.
• Develop or assist in writing Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and One Point Lessons.
• Operate all warehouse machinery (e.g., PIT) safely and proficiently.
• Assign tasks, monitor warehouse processes, and collaborate with supervisors or managers.
• Review and verify employee paperwork before submission to Quality Control.
• Close warehouse record reports and report raw material discrepancies to inventory control.
• Interpret and explain company policies, specifications, and job orders to employees.
• Communicate with other departments to provide supplies, products, and equipment for Production schedules.
• Participate in root cause analysis and plant continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify trends, implement improvements, and sustain enhancements in safety, quality, production, and efficiency.
• Comply with OSHA guidelines, safety policies, food safety, and cGMP guidelines; monitor and coach the Warehouse team to ensure adherence.

• Properly use, wear, and store Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
• Participate in safety teams or complete safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Additional post-secondary education and prior team leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Experience operating Turret trucks, Dock Stockers, Powered Pallet Jacks, Dock Plates, and other raised platform vehicles.
• Experience in a warehousing or manufacturing environment, preferably in food or pharmaceuticals.
• Knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement preferred.
• PIT license and PIT trainer certification required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Oracle.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including off shifts and weekends as needed.

• Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written skills preferred.
• Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Solid knowledge of inventory control, warehousing processes, and troubleshooting inventory discrepancies.

Physical Demands

• Regularly talk, hear, stand, walk (prolonged), sit, squat, kneel, ascend/descend stairs, and reach with hands and arms.
• Use hands to handle or grasp controls of lift trucks; use feet to depress foot controls.
• Access product on floor or low shelves; operate hand trucks or forklifts with a 24-inch step.
• Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
• Work at heights up to 26 feet when operating PIT.
• Regular computer use.
• Lift, move, raise, and/or place items, including:
  • Palletize boxes: lift up to 50 lb. boxes from floor to 36 inches.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. from waist to overhead.
  • Move pallets: raise up to 55 lb. box from floor to one side, carry up to 10 feet, and return to original position.
  • Load pallet: lift up to 38 lbs. from 5 inches to 36 inches and return to 5 inches.
  • Load pallet onto order picker: lift up to 15 lbs. from waist to waist height with a 90-degree turn.
  • Move pallet jacks: push and pull with force up to 42 lbs. at 36-inch height.
  • Open/close overhead dock doors and trailer doors: pull down with 70 lbs. of force from 75 inches and pull up with 70 lbs. of force from 9 inches.
  • Grasp up to 80 lbs. of force.

Work Environment

• Regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
• Exposure to herbal aromas, dust, and/or airborne particles, some classified as allergens or irritants.
• Direct exposure to ingredients (powders and liquids), mixes, equipment, and packaging in manufacturing facilities.
• Frequent exposure to FDA-designated major food allergens (Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacean shellfish, Tree nuts, Wheat, and Soybeans), except peanuts.
• Moderately loud noise levels; louder areas may require hearing protection.
