Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communications to encourage all employees to identify with and actively participate in plant safety (regulations, awareness, and process).
  • Foster safety awareness and plant housekeeping.
  • Investigate any production or safety concerns to ensure a safe and productive working environment.
  • Ensure that all job-related accidents or injuries are reported and documented by those responsible and take appropriate corrective action in an expeditious manner.
  • Promote safe work practices, job training, dissemination of company policies and procedures, quality standards, timely and constructive performance evaluations, and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Accountable for all aspects of manufacturing within assigned area, including machining, sanding, finishing and/or assembly of component cabinet parts, as well as material workflow, productivity, quality specifications and departmental efficiency.
  • Operational measurements include employee/cell performance, scrap rate, labor rates, minimizing overtime, and cost effectiveness.
  • Promote the concepts of a team and world-class manufacturing environment by building effective teams.
  • Schedule daily production runs and communicate the performance to plan.
  • Reduce material and labor costs through formal continuous improvement processes.
  • Facilitate group meetings to ensure communication of safety/environmental and daily/weekly production requirements and goals, as well as address and resolve non-performance and product non-conformance issues.
  • At a minimum, annually devise and review Management by Planning objectives for self and direct reports to provide ample information for annual performance development summaries.
  • Perform any other projects or assignments as requested by the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma.
  • Intermediate experience and knowledge with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision with demonstrated ability to complete projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member and be receptive to change and cross-functional training.
  • Demonstrated strong personal, interpersonal, motivational, intellectual, and leadership competencies.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to obtain action, change, and achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, and performance feedback skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • 3-5 years of progressive responsibility in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working in a medium-to-large cabinet manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in the kitchen or office furniture industry is a plus.
  • Experience in other various technical or highly process-related manufacturers.
