Warehouse & Inventory Control Supervisor

About the role

The Warehouse & Inventory Control Supervisor plays a crucial role within Thermo Fisher Scientific, overseeing warehouse operations, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and material movement.
• Own inventory accuracy across all warehouse locations and storage areas.
• Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control procedures that promote inventory integrity and consistent transaction documentation.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels through a structured cycle count program, physical inventory activities, routine audits, and variance investigations.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and monitor recurring trends to improve inventory accuracy.
• Optimize warehouse layout, material flow, storage capacity, and workflows to improve efficiency, safety, and productivity.
• Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate warehouse/shipping personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), health, safety, environmental, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain material identification, traceability, segregation, quarantine, released, rejected, and expired inventory controls in accordance with Quality requirements and approved procedures.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure material availability and inventory alignment.
• Support internal audits, external audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections by maintaining audit-ready warehouse documentation and practices.
• Partner with Finance to support inventory reconciliations, annual physical inventories, and inventory-related investigations while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties and approval requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, improve inventory accuracy, increase productivity, and strengthen operational controls.
• Lead warehouse organization initiatives, including 5S, visual management, warehouse location optimization, and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Five or more years of progressive warehouse, inventory management, or materials management experience, preferably within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and ERP platforms, experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel and Power BI, proven leadership and team management skills, experience supporting GMP operations, quality audits, or regulatory inspections, experience supporting ERP implementations or warehouse process improvements.

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications: Certification in supply chain or logistics such as APICS CPIM or CSCP, Lean or Six Sigma experience, experience with warehouse automation or optimization technologies, knowledge of GMP, GDP, inventory controls, and regulated manufacturing environments, experience supporting ERP transformations and warehouse process standardization.
