Warehouse Forklift Driver

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM plus overtime as required.

Compensation: $23 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a lift truck by driving backward and twisting to maintain visibility in the direction of travel throughout the shift.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment (e.g., cleaning or recharging batteries); report defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Use controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transport materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Operate lifting devices (forklifts, lift beams, swivel-hooks, hoists, elevating platforms) to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes; secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Maintain reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Perform all duties in conformance with safety and security standards.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned or needed.

Specialized Roles

  • Unloader
    • Unload products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
    • Verify product identification and count accuracy.
    • Inspect condition of all received product.
    • Move and place product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Preloader
    • Receive and read preload orders.
    • Accurately pick product from storage and stage it on a spot following stacking guidelines.
    • Inspect and load trucks, arranging products within the trailer cube according to recommended loading practices.
    • Use scanning devices and computers as needed.
    • Check printouts for shortages, over-counts, and incorrect model numbers; correct discrepancies where possible.
  • Truck Loader
    • Inspect trailers before loading products.
    • Count units on preload spot and compare with shipping documents.
    • Move products from the preload spot (or directly from storage) into the trailer.
    • Arrange products within the trailer cube according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
    • Properly secure the load for travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience.
  • Valid state driver’s license; forklift certification preferred.
  • Basic proficiency with scanner technology.

Qualifications

  • Attendance: Ability to work the required schedule and arrive on time; willingness to work voluntary/mandatory overtime during busy seasons.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in a courteous, professional manner; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Mathematics: Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Language: Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers; read and interpret documents such as receivers, invoices, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; read and write simple sentences.

  • Accuracy: Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
