Responsibilities
- Operates a lift truck continually on shift, including driving backwards while looking in the direction of travel.
- Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment (e.g., cleaning or recharging batteries using a man-on-board magnetic system); reports defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
- Inspects product condition to ensure it is free of damage or contamination.
- Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
- Stages product for outbound loads according to requirements.
- Removes and empties waste bins into designated receptacles.
- Moves controls to drive lift trucks and transport raw materials, finishing supplies, or finished product between warehouse, trailers, and operating lines.
- Operates lifting devices (forklifts, lift beams, swivel-hooks, hoists, elevating platforms) to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
- Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes; secures material or products for transport.
- Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
- Operates a powered air-supplied respirator for cleaning functions.
- Maintains housekeeping of department and work areas.
- Ensures reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
- Performs all duties in compliance with safety and security standards.
- Completes any other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Two years of related experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer or tablet skills; familiarity with hand-held radios.
- Forklift certification preferred; must complete Holman’s forklift certification program.
Qualifications
- Ability to work the required schedule and arrive on time, including voluntary/mandatory overtime during busy seasons.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers; read and interpret documents (receivers, invoices, operating instructions, procedure manuals); read and write simple sentences.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers, and management.
- Ability to maintain productivity that meets or exceeds established guidelines; work independently without interruptions.
- Ability to complete paperwork neatly, accurately, and according to guidelines; count, document, or scan units as required.
- Ability to verify paperwork to ensure customers receive the correct product; inspect product condition for quality.
