Schedule

Monday–Thursday, 4:00 AM–2:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis; operates a lift truck for the entire shift.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment (e.g., cleaning or recharging batteries) and reports defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transports materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices (e.g., forklifts, lift beams, swivel-hooks, hoists, elevating platforms) to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes; secures material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Maintains reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.

Unloader

  • Unloads products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
  • Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
  • Inspects condition of all received product.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.

Preloader

  • Receives and reads preload orders.
  • Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging it on a spot using stacking guidelines.
  • Inspects and loads trucks, arranging products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Uses scanning devices and computers as needed to perform tasks.
  • Checks printouts for shortages, over-counts, and incorrect model numbers; corrects issues where possible.

Truck Loader

  • Inspects trailers before loading products.
  • Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
  • Moves products from the preload spot (or directly from storage when required) into the trailer.
  • Arranges products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Properly secures the load for travel.

Requirements

  • Ability to work the required schedule and arrive on time; willingness to work voluntary/mandatory overtime during busy seasons.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers; read and interpret documents (e.g., receivers, invoices, operating instructions, procedure manuals); read and write simple sentences.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Ability to maintain production levels that meet or exceed established guidelines; work independently without interruptions.
  • Ability to complete paperwork neatly and accurately according to established guidelines; properly count, document, or scan units as required.
  • Ability to verify paperwork to ensure customers receive the correct product; inspect product condition to ensure quality.
  • Ability to follow a systematic method for performing tasks.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for actions.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect team member safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience.
  • Basic computer skills, including scanner technology.
  • Valid state driver’s license; forklift certification preferred.
