Warehouse Development Project Manager

The Warehouse Development team supports the construction design and management, expansion planning, and land acquisition for our distribution network.
About the role
The Project Manager of Warehouse Development will work with internal logistics, IT, warehouse operations, and manage external construction partners to achieve expansion of the ALDI Distribution Center Network. The objective is to meet growth initiatives through modernization and expansion of Regional Distribution Centers.
This is a full-time position based in Dublin, OH, eligible for ALDI's Hybrid Work Program, allowing remote work up to 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the training, development, and performance of team staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce.
- Recruits and recommends qualified employees for team staff positions.
- Establishes, communicates, and evaluates job responsibilities and performance expectations.
- Communicates and models the core values of the organization to foster teamwork.
- Provides oversight and direction during the construction process from groundbreaking through final occupancy permit.
- Ensures work is completed in accordance with construction plans, specifications, and budget via regular site visits and supervision of the general contractor.
- Identifies and communicates cost-saving opportunities for constructing or remodeling facilities.
- Works with government officials, utility companies, and suppliers to meet project deadlines.
- Assists in reviewing engineering, building, and site design with selected Architect and Engineering firms.
- Assists with meetings to present ALDI concepts and plans.
- Assists with site and building cost estimates for site evaluation packages.
- Advises on changes or actions to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Informs management of recurring issues or training needs.
- Consults with leadership on team strategy and external vendor sourcing.
- Liaises with business areas to ensure timely and efficient communication.
- Consults on process design and streamlining within the organization.
- Stays updated on external best practices and communicates relevant changes to leadership.
- Reviews plan updates with direct leader to ensure approved changes are implemented.
- Communicates with divisional personnel as needed.
- Verifies the need and cost of proposed change orders and submits them for approval.
- Oversees construction of new and remodeled facilities to ensure compliance with governmental codes and ALDI specifications.
- Ensures all proper permits, bonds, final approvals, lien waivers, and bond closeouts are secured.
- Assists in training and developing team members.
- Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.
- Manages team projects and tasks through effective prioritization, planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Identifies cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Serves as the primary link between team staff and leadership to align on company goals and opportunities for improvement.
- Complies with ALDI privacy and security requirements and policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; preferred fields include Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Business, or Project Management.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Business, Project Management, or retail operations; or a minimum of 3 years of relevant ALDI experience.
- A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
Physical Requirements
- Work may be performed in an office, remote office, or a combination of both, using a computer and office equipment.
- Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand, and move between areas.
- Constant and repeated use of keyboard/mouse.
- Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift, and move up to 25 lbs.
Travel
Domestic travel required, up to 50%.
Pay
Starting salary: $155,250. Salary increases: Year 2 - $165,500 | Year 3 - $176,000.
