About the role
The Secondary Warehouse Electronic IT & Data Entry Intern will train to help oversee the inner workings of a warehouse operation consisting of a set of functions and processes that work cohesively to maintain the optimal flow of goods in and out of the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Train to be responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the receiving, storing, and distribution of all freight/supplies in the warehouse according to company standards.
- Ensure the equipment and tools supplied to employees are safe and usable while maintaining control of stock and inventory.
- Communicate effectively with management and planning while having the ability to physically work on the warehouse floor.
- Train to ensure that all warehouse employees are regularly briefed, supervised and trained.
- Train to ensure that warehouse machinery is maintained and train to ensure that health, safety, and security in the warehouse are maintained at all times.
- Identify potential security breach vulnerabilities such as theft/contraband.
- Train to maintain inventory on a regular basis, keeping systems up to date, producing reports and planning for future capacity requirements.
- Train to enforce the completion of inspection/condition reports of all warehouse equipment (forklifts, etc.) at the beginning of shifts.
- Train to assist in maintaining a budget, keeping environmental standards and fulfilling obligations given by upper management.
- Train to communicate with distributors, suppliers, employees and management to ensure quality and delivery standards are upheld.
- Train to develop strong management skills, be able to organize warehouse employees.
- Train to organize warehouse employees to work various shifts and weekends when required.
- Must also train to have some knowledge of the tug and maritime industry including shipyard and vessel repair activities, and be familiar with welding and welding supplies.
- Required to learn inventory control software.
- Required to have excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal.
- Must have experience working with Senior Management.
- Must have a high level of attention to detail, organization and structuring.
- Computer experience (Word, Excel, email, and inventory control) is a must.
- Must have some forklift and other material handling equipment experience.
- Require to help ensure that any issues raised are resolved in a timely manner.
- Required To Work Independently To Complete Responsibilities.
- Must have knowledge of ship repair processes and procedures.
- Must be able to perform a variety of complicated tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must be an active listener, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points made.
- Must be a critical thinker using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Must have the ability to instruct and explain to others.
- Must have good judgement and decision making skills in considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the best plan.
- Must have attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials: establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Must be a good communicator, negotiator, and problem solver.
- Must be able to work as part of a team.
Requirements
- Must have some experience in warehouse management and electronic inventory systems.
- Also, must have a valid driver’s license and TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
- Must also have some knowledge of maritime and ship repair tools and supplies.
- Must be available to work nights and weekends when required.
