About the role
The Warehouse Associate/Truck Driver plays a crucial role in Rexel USA's operations, focusing on efficient and accurate handling of orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping materials. This role involves driving a delivery vehicle up to 50% of the time to transport goods to and from customers, branch/warehouse locations, and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a safe and efficient work environment
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety rules
- Verify quantities and descriptions of materials received by vendors, customers, or other warehouses
- Stock incoming orders on shelves and report freight damage claims
- Prepare branch orders and ensure correct shipment of products
- Operate machinery including forklifts, reach trucks, and wire cutting machines
- Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
- Operate delivery vehicles to make deliveries to customers, branch/warehouse locations, and suppliers
- Inspect company vehicles for defects and complete daily inspection reports
- Keep vehicles clean, serviced, and maintain them
- Alert supervisors of repair or service needs
- Load and unload vehicles to ensure correct material quantity and condition
- Sign delivery receipts and complete necessary documentation
- Pick up material returns from customers and verify quantities and catalog numbers
- Pick up material from company suppliers
- Assist in preparing orders for delivery
- Participate in the training of entry-level truck drivers and provide mentorship and coaching
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- No experience required
- Prior warehouse experience a plus
- Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred
- Valid driver's license
- At least 21 years of age
- Verification of non-expired medical certificate within 30 days of hire
- No at-fault accidents in the past 3 years
- No suspended driver's license for traffic violations in the past 3 years
- General knowledge of electrical products a plus
- Basic computer knowledge
- Effective communication skills
- Basic mathematical calculations
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of safety regulations and traffic laws
- Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws
