Warehouse Associate – Shipping & Receiving

About the Role
You will:
- Be responsible for counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material.
- Stock and maintain the warehouse; and pick, document, and pack customer orders in accordance with Company policy and procedure.
- Act with a high attention to detail to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
- Handle all shipping discrepancies per procedures or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee to handle.
- Identify nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations.
- Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
- Load and unload trucks, operate warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
- Inform immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise that could impact customer service levels.
- Ensure security and controls are in place and upheld to protect Profit Center assets.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety.
- Remove empty cartons, metal bands, pallets, and other debris.
- Inform immediate supervisor of safety issues.
- Assist co-workers in servicing customers.
- Perform all job functions in accordance with the company's Safety Standards.
- Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Shipping and receiving duties are a primary function of this position, and the selected candidate must be willing to assist with all warehouse operations as needed.
Requirements
- 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
- Knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center preferred
- Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, order picking, and material handling
- Must be experienced in receiving inbound shipments, verifying quantities, inspecting materials for damage, and accurately documenting receipts
- Experience in a wholesale distribution, plumbing, HVAC, or industrial warehouse environment is preferred
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

- Able to quickly develop comprehensive knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers
- Knowledge of and ability to apply safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment
- Able to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment in use at the Profit Center
- Able to learn and operate the computer-related systems used for warehouse operations
Additional Details
- Training will be conducted in Alexandria, Virginia
- Work location: Lorton, Virginia
- Schedule: Monday through Friday
- Work hours may vary based on business needs
Pay
$23 per hour
