Warehouse Associate/Branch Driver

About the role

Employee’s level and pay will be dependent on their level of experience, knowledge, and capabilities. The Warehouse Associate/Truck Driver I is responsible for efficiently and accurately filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material while meeting company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. This role also handles all warehouse transactions and maintains the branch warehouse environment and equipment. A significant driving component involves operating a delivery vehicle (up to 50% of the time) to deliver products to customers, company branches, warehouses, and suppliers using a delivery van or box truck (no CDL required). Ensuring deliveries are prepared correctly, materials are damage-free, and all documentation is completed accurately is essential.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and Environmental Health and Safety Rules; address safety concerns immediately
• Receive material from vendors, customers, or other warehouses; verify quantity and description by checking merchandise against the packing list
• Stock incoming orders on shelves in an orderly manner and report freight damage claims
• Prepare branch orders from the warehouse, ensuring the correct number and type of product is shipped
• Process shipment paperwork, including verifying merchandise, applying correct postage and labels, following customer shipping instructions, and insuring shipments when necessary
• Operate machinery including forklift, reach truck, and wire cutting machine as required
• Load common carrier and company vehicles
• Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment
• Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
• Operate delivery vehicles to transport products to and from customers, company branches, warehouses, and suppliers
• Inspect company vehicle for visual and operating defects; complete a daily inspection report
• Maintain company vehicle cleanliness, service, and maintenance; alert supervisor of repair needs
• Follow Department of Transportation (DOT), local, and state driving laws and regulations
• Load and unload vehicle, ensuring all material for each order is correct (quantity and type) and damage-free before departure
• Assist in preparing orders for delivery as needed
• Complete all appropriate documentation at delivery, including obtaining customer signatures on delivery receipts, packing lists, and branch/warehouse manifests
• Pick up material returns from customers; inspect condition, verify quantities, and catalog numbers
• Pick up material from company suppliers
• Participate in training entry-level Truck Drivers; provide mentorship and coaching
• Perform other branch duties as required, including counter sales and customer support
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• No experience required; prior warehouse experience is a plus
• Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• At least 21 years of age
• Must pass pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review
• Must obtain verification of a non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 30 days of hire
• No suspended driver’s license for traffic accidents/violations within the past 3 years
• No at-fault accidents in the past 3 years
• High School diploma or GED preferred
