About the role

We are looking for a Warehouse Associate/Branch Driver to join our Platt team in Portland Metro, OR. This role is responsible for efficiently and accurately filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material while maintaining company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. The position includes an essential driving component, operating a delivery vehicle (van or box truck, no CDL required) for up to 50% of the time to deliver products to customers, branch/warehouse locations, and suppliers. Pay is dependent on experience, knowledge, and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and Environmental Health and Safety Rules; immediately address safety concerns
  • Receive material from vendors, customers, or other warehouses; verify quantity and description against packing lists
  • Stock incoming orders on shelves in an orderly manner and report freight damage claims
  • Prepare branch orders from the warehouse, ensuring correct number and type of product is shipped
  • Process shipment paperwork, including verifying merchandise, applying postage and labels, following customer shipping instructions, and insuring shipments when necessary
  • Operate machinery including forklift, reach truck, and wire cutting machine
  • Load common carrier and company vehicles
  • Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment
  • Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • Operate delivery vehicles to transport products to and from customers, branch/warehouse locations, and suppliers
  • Inspect company vehicle for visual and operating defects; complete daily inspection reports
  • Maintain company vehicle cleanliness, service, and maintenance; alert supervisor of repair needs
  • Follow Department of Transportation (DOT), local, and state driving laws and regulations
  • Load and unload vehicle, ensuring all material is correct (quantity and type) and free of damage before departure
  • Assist in preparing orders for delivery as needed
  • Complete all delivery documentation, including obtaining customer signatures on delivery receipts
  • Pick up material returns from customers; inspect condition, verify quantities, and catalog numbers
  • Pick up material from company suppliers
  • Participate in training and mentorship of entry-level Truck Drivers
  • Perform other branch duties as required, including counter sales and customer support
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • No prior experience required; warehouse experience a plus
  • Forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must pass pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review
  • Must obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 30 days of hire
  • No suspended driver’s license for traffic accidents/violations within the past 3 years
  • No at-fault accidents in the past 3 years
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
