Warehouse Associate

About the role

This position is responsible for all general warehouse functions including loading, receiving, put-away, stocking and selection of product and/or order packing when qualified and as needed.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include handling product to minimize damage, communicating any damage found or caused during processes, and ensuring the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work areas.

• Appropriately handle product to minimize damage during loading, unloading, receiving, put-away, selecting, and packing processes
• Communicate any damage found or caused during processes to appropriate personnel
• Inspect trailer cleanliness prior to loading and ensure all packages meet warehouse standards
• Accurately record product delivered and create OS&D paperwork when necessary
• Stage product efficiently for put-away and operate material handling equipment in a safe and orderly manner
• Ensure material handling equipment is maintained and clean, and report repair or service needs to supervisor
• Accurately select product for outbound shipments and stage and notate float numbers on pallets
• Work effectively with immediate supervisor to prevent warehouse shrink and cross-train in other warehouse functions
• Observe and enforce all safety rules and use warehouse computers and RF equipment in a safe and professional manner

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have the ability to pass a post-offer functional capacity test
• Must have ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Must have ability to read and write simple correspondence, and to speak effectively in one-on-one and in small group situations
• Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Certification on material handling equipment is required, or the ability to become certified

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred, or one year warehouse related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
• Frequently required to stand and walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
• Required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit
• Frequently required to sit/stand on MHE equipment and must be comfortable with heights of up to 25 feet
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move between 41 and 55 pounds, and seldom lift and/or move 56 pounds and up to 100 pounds

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

• Job duties are performed in a warehouse environment
• Regularly exposed to fast moving material handling equipment or other mechanical equipment
• Frequently exposed to variable temperatures and humid conditions, vehicle emissions; and is infrequently exposed to contained toxic or caustic chemicals
• The noise level in the work environment usually is loud

Schedule

This is a full-time position, with varying schedules that may include shift work, weekdays or weekends, and some holidays.
