About the Role
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment, including warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, inventory management, demand, supply, and manufacturing planning. Warehouse Operations performs manual or automated tasks for the receipt, storage, and shipment of products, such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, and delivery. This role ensures the efficient flow of products from vendor receipt to shipment for internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Unloading trucks in the Inbound section using a pallet jack or equivalent devices.
- Using the Manhattan Warehouse Management System to check in products; following regulations for refrigerated specialty products.
- Storing products in warehouse locations using order pickers or other devices.
- Picking products from warehouse locations and loading them into outbound trucks.
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to process orders, including picking, quality control checks, sorting, consolidating freight, building and wrapping pallets, packing, loading, and preparing orders for shipment.
- Cross-training in multiple warehouse areas and participating in projects as needed.
- Driving material handling equipment (e.g., order picker, forklift, reach truck, turret truck, pallet jack, walkie rider).
- Completing housekeeping and inventory control tasks; maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Working on routine assignments requiring problem resolution.
- Participating in associate meetings and communicating concerns to management.
- Performing all job duties in accordance with OSHA standards and adhering to all organizational policies, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience preferred.
- Previous Material Handling Equipment experience preferred (e.g., order picker, forklifts, reach trucks).
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift, and stand for the entire shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfort working at heights of 20-30 feet regularly.
- Must be able to work overtime with little or no advance notice.
- Ability to follow directions, change priorities, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Aptitude for working in a fast-paced warehouse environment while meeting hourly performance standards.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and rotate into various warehouse areas.
- Adherence to site safety regulations, including wearing required personal protective equipment (e.g., steel-toed safety shoes, material handling equipment safety harness).
