About the Role

This position is responsible for managing inventory, purchasing equipment, and handling logistics for repairs and replacements. The role involves physical labor in various environmental conditions, including loading and unloading heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and restock items for repairs and replacement of parts.
  • Work with vendors to purchase equipment or items short in stock.
  • Load and unload heavy equipment in extreme conditions.
  • Track inventory and orders as required.
  • Maintain records of vehicle fleet inventory, maintenance, inspection, and repair schedules.
  • Receive purchased building materials and supplies from vendors for restocking.
  • Pick up and transport materials from vendors.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, including computers and applicable software.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of City procurement policies and inventory control procedures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and warehouse safety guidelines.
  • Skill in organization, time management, and multitasking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to ensure proper working conditions of the fleet.
  • Ability to maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions, including extreme heat (above 100°F) and cold (below 32°F).
  • Majority of work performed outdoors or in high-risk environments (e.g., construction sites, near moving traffic).
  • Frequent exposure to loud noises (85+ decibels), fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.
  • Physical exertion required: lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
  • Work environments include warehouses, outdoor sites, vehicles, and confined spaces.
  • Occasional local travel required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
  • Valid Texas Driver License (or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment if holding an out-of-state license).
