Ward Clerk - Emergency Room
About the role
The Ward Clerk plays a crucial role in the Emergency Room at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children. This position is vital to the coordination of nursing care services and involves performing non-nursing and clerical tasks across departments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities at the nursing station
- Perform non-nursing and clerical functions on an intra and inter-departmental level
- Provide support to the nursing staff in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
- Assist in the management of patient flow and scheduling
- Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and communication with other departments
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-high school vocational or specialized training in medical office procedures
- Six (6) months clerical experience in a healthcare setting
Qualifications
Outstanding patient care and organizational skills are essential. An appreciation for procedure and protocol, along with a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care, are also required.
Skills
Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures is preferred but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
