Waiver Medicaid Eligibility Specialist (Part Time)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate successful interactions with participants, family members, MDHHS, financial institutions, and internal customers.
- Actively assists applicants of the MI Choice Waiver program in obtaining long term care Medicaid.
- Proactively supports successful redeterminations of long-term Medicaid status for MI Choice Waiver participants.
- Works with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to report, monitor and resolve issues with Medicaid eligibility, applications, and redeterminations.
- Notifies appropriate colleagues of potential participant coding issues in Champs system.
- Supports internal team members with Medicaid questions.
- Maintains tracking records as well as documentation in Compass (electronic medical record) for those individuals' seeking assistance with Medicaid application or Medicaid redetermination.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one-year related experience and/or training.
- Prior experience working with Medicaid preferred.
- Prior human services experience.
- Experience working with older adults and adults with disabilities and caregivers.
- Proficient in Outlook/Excel preferred.
- Clear understanding of HIPPA Compliance regulations preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one-year related experience and/or training.
- Experience: Prior experience working with Medicaid preferred.
- Skills: Prior human services experience, experience working with older adults and adults with disabilities and caregivers, proficiency in Outlook/Excel, clear understanding of HIPPA Compliance regulations.
Benefits
- Non-Exempt position with starting wage of $20.50 - 23.43, which will be adjusted for experience.

Hours worked per week: Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
About the Role
This position is responsible for completing Medicaid applications and Medicaid re-determinations for new and existing participants of the MI Choice Waiver program. This is not a billing or coding position.
