Role Overview As part of our Mississippi Food & Beverage team your job as an Assistant Waiter/ess is to deliver meals, set up and maintain all buffet areas in accordance with Viking’s STAR Service Standards You will be reporting to the Assistant Restaurant ManagerYou will be expected to work on a 10-12/3-4 rotation (10-12 weeks on board and 3-4 weeks off on vacation). Please note that rotation lenghts vary based on staffing and operational needs onboard Viking Mississippi Role ExpectationsProvide support for food and beverage services in assigned areasSet up and maintain self-service buffet areas, assist with food service and ensure mise-en-place for all areas prior to serviceServe beverages, maintain service quality standards, and prepare for special eventsEnsure equipment and work areas are clean and well-maintainedProvide high level of comfort and sales-oriented service to guestsFollow and diligently implement Viking STAR standards, safety and standard operating procedures, while complying with Public Health Regulations.Always uphold impeccable grooming standards by complying with Viking’s Image and Uniform StandardsDemonstrate outstanding flexibility: able to work at various times of the day, under pressure and always reflect a positive can-do attitude and the best image of VikingYou will be expected to consistently arrive on time and be prepared for workOther tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at leaders’ discretion based on operational needs Required Qualifications2+ years’ experience as a Restaurant attendant (or similar role) at a 5-Star hospitality or fine dining environment. Outstanding knowledge of service standards and food.Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance, and impeccable hygiene standardsExcellent knowledge of all public health policiesFood handling certification required & alcohol certification Preferred QualificationsShipboard experience.Wine knowledge Mandatory requirements & at will employment:Viking covers all travel arrangements and associated transportation costs from the airport to the ship Employees must be fully vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria, and Hepatitis A and B before their start date.
