W2 Contract - Senior Workday Developer/Configuration Analyst
Location: Hopewell, NJ (local or nearby candidates only; other locations: Charlotte, NC / Plano, TX)
About the role
The Workday Configuration Analyst provides HR system administration, including business process configuration, reporting development, end-user training, and data management in support of maintaining Workday as a best-in-class employee experience platform. This role partners with Workday team members, IT, business partners, vendors, and business leaders to meet the HR technology needs of the organization, with a focus on Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Payroll, Time, Absence, Benefits, Integrations, and Reporting.
This position is part of an International Payroll project and requires experience with Payroll in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and LATAM (Latin America).
Responsibilities
- Configure complex Workday business processes, with a focus on Payroll, Time, and Absence.
- Support configuration and troubleshooting of business processes.
- Perform Workday administrative functions including tenant configuration, data loads, integrations, and reporting.
- Review business procedures/workflows to ensure system features are fully utilized and identify Workday features that may improve efficiency.
- Work within Sandbox environments and maintain system standards through documentation and enforcement.
- Provide pre- and post-launch end-user support, change management, issue resolution, testing, and training to optimize Workday processes.
- Mass load information via EIBs and test integration inputs/outputs based on transactional changes.
- Create reports and use them to audit configuration change effectiveness.
- Document technology specifications for current and future configuration.
- Maintain accurate change management documentation to satisfy internal/external audit controls and compliance practices.
- Understand and apply Workday’s Implementation Methodology on all projects.
- Act as domain support for feature releases and issue resolution, collaborating with the Workday Architect to define scope, prioritize, plan, and implement system changes.
- Maintain functional knowledge of HR and HR systems across multiple functions and teams, driving collaboration and a commitment to support service excellence.
- Foster ongoing Workday relationships through community engagement, user groups, and conferences.
- Support business partners and enhance their understanding of Workday.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of Workday Core HCM experience.
- End-to-end Workday implementations (not just maintenance).
- Experience building integrations from scratch (not just maintaining existing ones).
- Full development lifecycle experience, including requirement gathering and business partner interaction.
- Deep domain expertise in at least one area (Core HCM, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, etc.).
- Experience with Workday Payroll, Workday integrations, and Workday configurations.
- Documentation maintenance and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of Workday HCM experience.
- Workday Pro or Workday Certifications strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of at least three Workday modules (Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Payroll, Time, Absence, or Benefits).
- Workday Integrations experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Workday business process, core setup, and security framework.
- Deep understanding of Workday data model, corporate system architecture, interfaces, reporting, and data loading procedures.
- Strong expertise in cloud-based multi-tenant systems.
- Ability to convey ideas and recommendations clearly and compellingly to diverse audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with others on solutions.
