VX-20 Maintenance Controller - Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL)

About the Role

Provides daily oversight of all functional and operational activities in maintenance control of aircraft at the direction of senior contractor managers. Aligned with V2X’s mission to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness through integrated physical and digital infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Defines and assigns responsibilities by shift, functions, and operations per directives.
• Organizes daily tasks and initiates priorities for work center supervisors.
• Ensures full and effective employment of assigned personnel.
• Ensures all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Provides and reviews reports, databases (SAME/FAME), and MESMs for accuracy, completeness, and content.
• Ensures aircraft records are updated and maintained correctly.
• Manages aircraft and assets at intervals specified in applicable instructions.
• Ensures aircraft are properly configured and ready for mission per the flight schedule.
• Assists in planning meetings as required.
• Provides oversight for supply priority and project codes.
• Manages and directs cannibalization actions and work requests.
• Schedules and holds periodic planning and informational meetings.
• May be required to go on detachment and perform other duties as assigned.
• Releases aircraft safe for flight.
• Leads a field team dispatched for complex or unusual maintenance tasks.
• Performs up to five hours per week of company-related administrative duties (e.g., time and attendance sheets, home office reports).
• Determines scope of work by diagnosing problems, estimating material and manning requirements.
• Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems.
• Provides technical assistance and guidance to less-skilled employees.
• Inspects work of lesser-skilled employees when an Inspector is not assigned.
• Leads a crew of up to ten employees with minimal supervision.
• Complies with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series applicable to aircraft maintenance.
• Uses technical publications, NAMP, and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications.
• Performs other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Leadership and administrative skills with technical expertise in aircraft maintenance.
• Knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures.
• Ability to plan and schedule maintenance work requirements.
• Working technical knowledge of aircraft, machinery, facilities, and equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude to provide technical direction in all maintenance areas.
• Understanding of technical language and terms in the field.
• Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
• Proficiency in using computers.
• Full knowledge of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and the RDT&E community.
• Knowledge of military publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics.
• Familiarity with military and/or company forms required by work specifications.
• Working knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Valid U.S. state driver’s license.
• Ability to read and interpret data.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to obtain a government flight line driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or trade license preferred.
• A&P License/FAA Certification desirable but not required.
• Four years of actual and recent experience in the assigned field of expertise.
• Experience level commensurate with the base classification for Crew Leader premium.
• Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level clearance.

Physical Requirements & Working Environment

• May work in aircraft maintenance hangars or outdoors.
• May respond to operational circumstances including extreme weather and rudimentary infrastructure.
• Exposure to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
• Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or electrical shock hazards; may work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
• Must walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods.
• Must climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
• Must crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects; use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees, and reach above/below shoulders.
• May lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, and identify small objects and hand tools.
• Must detect imperfections, micrometer readings, and other small scales.
• Must communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
• Must distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
• May operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklifts, APUs, etc.

Travel

May vary by location; potential for detachment and other travel as assigned.

Pay

Salary range for Maryland: USD $105,000 - $115,000. Starting pay based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Range may vary by geographic location.
