VP, Value & Access
Broad Overview
The Vice President, Value & Access is a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team responsible for developing and executing the enterprise market access strategy across the Company's current portfolio and future pipeline products. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for all Value & Access functions, including Pricing & Contracting, Gross-to-Net, Government Pricing, Account Management, Market Access Strategy, Trade and HEOR.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and inspire a multi-functional Value & Access organization, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Establish and execute the long-term vision and strategic roadmap for Market Access, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and growth strategies.
- Serve as a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team, partnering closely with Commercial, Finance, Legal, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Trade, Compliance, and Executive Leadership.
- Build organizational capabilities and talent to support current products, future launches, business development opportunities, and acquisitions.
- Develop succession plans and leadership development strategies across the Value & Access organization.
- Prepare the organization for upcoming product launches by ensuring market access readiness, infrastructure, contracting strategies, reimbursement support, and stakeholder engagement plans are established and executed.
- Develop and execute comprehensive market access strategies that optimize patient access, reimbursement, and product adoption across all channels of care.
- Lead engagement strategies with key market access stakeholders, including Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), Health Systems, Specialty Distributors, Government Accounts, and other strategic customers.
- Ensure customer-facing teams execute strategic account plans that drive contract performance, access expansion, and customer satisfaction.
- Anticipate and respond to changes in healthcare policy, reimbursement dynamics, competitive landscapes, and customer purchasing behaviors.
- Partner with Medical Affairs and Commercial teams to develop compelling value propositions supporting access and reimbursement objectives.
- Establish enterprise pricing and contracting strategies for marketed and pipeline products, balancing patient access, profitability, and long-term business objectives.
- Oversee government pricing programs, including Medicaid, Medicare, 340B, Federal Supply Schedule (FSS), Veterans Affairs (VA), and applicable state programs.
- Direct contract strategy development, negotiation support, approval processes, and performance management.
- Own the enterprise Gross-to-Net strategy and governance process.
- Serve as executive sponsor of the Deals Desk process, ensuring disciplined decision-making and appropriate financial oversight for pricing, discounts, rebates, and contracting arrangements.
- Partner closely with Finance to improve forecasting accuracy, optimize contract investments, and manage revenue realization.
- Provide executive oversight of external vendors supporting Gross-to-Net calculations, contract administration, and pricing analytics.
- Maintain accountability for CroFab liability management and related financial considerations.
- Lead development and execution of value and access strategies supporting current products and future launches.
- Ensure appropriate evidence generation, value messaging, and access strategies are developed to support payer, provider, and health system decision-makers.
- Provide strategic leadership for market access planning associated with new product launches, acquisitions, and lifecycle management initiatives.
- Establish launch readiness milestones and cross-functional governance processes to ensure successful commercialization.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and Company policies.
- Foster a culture of integrity, compliance, and ethical leadership throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum 15+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in a market access role.
- Specific experience understanding hospital systems including: Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), formulary processes, N-TAP submissions, DRGs, IDC-10 per therapeutic area and outlier payments.
- Previous Government Affairs experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Ability to articulate market access problems and solutions whilst taking a firm stand where necessary.
- Outstanding interpersonal consultative and communication skills (verbal and written) - able to effectively collaborate and communicate with client groups, senior management, and executives within the company.
- Ability to gain trust at, and work with, all levels of organization.
