VP, Enterprise Data
Job Summary
The Vice President of Enterprise Data will lead and unify the Enterprise Data organization at Invitation Homes. Reporting to the Head of Technology, they will oversee Product Strategy, Product Management and Product Ownership, Engineering and Architecture, and champion data governance across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Align data strategy with business objectives, champion data governance across the enterprise, and ensure data platforms deliver measurable value to stakeholders.
Build and lead a high-performing organization of 30+ data professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and servant leadership.
Communicate strategy, progress, risks, and outcomes to the C-suite and board-level audiences, serving as the primary executive voice for Enterprise Data.
Define and own the multi-year Enterprise Data team strategy, aligning with the company’s 3-year strategic plan, annual priorities, and technology roadmap.
Evaluate the data technology landscape and make strategic investment decisions on platforms, tools, and vendor partnerships.
Establish an enterprise-wide data governance framework, ensuring SOX compliance, data protection regulations (CCPA), and enterprise security standards.
Oversee end-to-end delivery of data products, platforms, and engineering solutions with high quality, on-time delivery, and measurable business outcomes.
Drive SDLC, CI/CD, change management, and release management best practices; ensure platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
Manage the data technology budget, vendor relationships, and resource allocation to maximize ROI.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- 15+ years progressive experience in data management, engineering, product management, and/or enterprise analytics
- 8+ years in senior leadership managing directors, senior managers, and large cross-functional teams (30+ people)
- Track record building and scaling enterprise data organizations in publicly traded companies with SOX compliance
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar technology budgets and vendor relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Real estate, SFR, multifamily, finance, hospitality, or retail industry experience
- Strong Snowflake experience (architecture, optimization, governance); hands-on Tableau familiarity
- Data orchestration, observability, catalog, lineage, quality, and security tooling
- Data-as-Code practices, CI/CD for data pipelines, and modern SDLC methodologies
- Knowledge of CCPA, SOX, and applicable data protection regulations
- Formal training or certifications in data management, data science, analytics, or AI (e.g., Snowflake, Tableau, dbt)
