About the role
The VP, Senior Commercial Credit Analyst compiles and prepares financial information required to make credit decisions for commercial loan requests. This role contributes to the loan decision process, monitors the existing loan portfolio, evaluates credit risk, and provides project assistance as required by the Credit Manager and Chief Credit Officer.
Responsibilities
- Complete underwriting for credit requests for new and existing commercial clients to produce creditworthiness recommendations, including collecting information from internal and external resources, recording into a risk-based model, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting results.
- Analyze and interpret all types of credit information on existing customer relationships, such as financial statements, tax returns, ratios, and credit reports.
- Maintain automatic tracking systems to identify deal flow and when financial or credit information is needed.
- Monitor customer accounts and loan portfolios to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and loss.
- Complete credit analysis and prepare recommendations regarding renewals and ratings of credit extensions for approval.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations and internal banking policies and procedures.
- Work with lenders to ensure all post-closing missing items are received and delivered to Loan Servicing.
- Complete projects as assigned by the Credit Manager or Chief Credit Officer.
- Maintain current knowledge and compliance with regulations, bank policies, and procedures, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- 3–5 years of related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret business and personal financial statements, tax returns, and credit bureau reports.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication and relationship skills, with the ability to influence business and functional partners.
- Capability to multitask and work on a variety of projects and teams.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical banking situations.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and spreadsheets.
