About the Role
The Vice President of Purchasing leads all procurement, inventory planning, and vendor management activities for a $1B+ purchasing organization. This executive role is responsible for optimizing inventory turns, fill rates, working capital, and vendor profitability while ensuring product availability and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead purchasing, inventory management, and demand planning strategies.
- Manage inventory performance, including turns, fill rates, aging inventory, and stock availability.
- Negotiate vendor rebates, MDF, growth incentives, and strategic purchasing agreements.
- Build and maintain executive-level manufacturer relationships.
- Drive profitability through inventory optimization, forecasting accuracy, and working capital management.
- Lead, develop, and mentor purchasing and inventory teams.
- Partner with Sales, Finance, Product Management, and Operations to support growth and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 10+ years of purchasing, inventory, or supply chain leadership experience.
- Proven success managing large-scale inventory investments and vendor partnerships.
- Strong financial, analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Distribution experience, preferably in consumer electronics and/or appliance product industry.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel (advanced capabilities would be advantageous).
- Driven and motivated to source products, drive the right product mix, and manage functions.
- Excellent organization and communication skills, with experience communicating across groups with varying technical backgrounds.
- History of strong leadership to drive recruiting and build teams.
- Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
- Possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality.
- Technically credible to lead teams with significant product expertise.
- Experience in Pro AV, technology, or distribution environments preferred.
- Some travel is required.
