About the role
The VP, People Business Partners & Talent Development leads the strategic architecture of Clio's human and high performing culture. This includes overseeing the People Business Partner (PBP) team and the Learning & Development (L&D) team to ensure that every department at Clio has the necessary strategic talent partnerships and world-class learning ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Integrating Talent & Growth: Unify the PBP and L&D functions to address performance gaps with targeted learning interventions.
- Executive Succession & Org Design: Lead the strategy for identifying, developing, and transitioning top leadership talent.
- The Future of Learning: Oversee the transition to an AI-augmented learning environment, personalizing growth paths for Clions at scale.
- High-Performance: Refine performance management and career mobility models to foster continuous feedback and transparency.
- Global Scaling: Ensure cohesive people strategy across different time zones, cultures, and legal jurisdictions as Clio expands globally.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- 10+ years of People Leadership experience, particularly in high-growth environments.
- A strong understanding of SaaS businesses and their metrics (ARR, Churn, LTV).
- Adept at change management, especially in large-scale organizational shifts like M&A integrations or department re-organizations.
- An executive presence and the ability to influence and support a high-velocity executive team.
- Experience building internal people programs with a similar rigor and iteration to customer-facing software products.
- A bias for action and a commitment to fostering high-performing teams.
- Proven track record in leading high-growth People teams.
- Deep background in both the Business Partner and Learning/Talent Development fields.
- Executive-level experience in managing complex organizational changes.
- Strong analytical skills to leverage people analytics for retention and performance trends.
- A passion for Clio's mission and values, ensuring they are operationalized in the workplace.
- Data-informed decision-making with a focus on the individual human experience.

Pay
The expected salary range for this role is $209,400 to $389,000 CAD, with separate salary bands for other regions based on local currency. Variable pay is also available based on company performance, with payouts calculated and paid quarterly.
Schedule
Clio operates in a hybrid work environment, with expectations for local Clions to be in the office at least twice a week. The company supports remote work for those in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin, and Sydney.
