VP of Purchasing (Foodservice)

About the role

Join the senior leadership team of a food distributor and own the procurement, vendor, and marketing strategy that drives profitability and growth. The company is an established food distribution company with a collaborative leadership team and a focus on customer service, supplier partnerships, and growth. You'll report directly to the President and sit on the senior leadership team, with real influence over revenue, margin, and the direction of the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement and purchasing, keeping inventory lean and service levels high
• Negotiate supplier pricing and programs that maximize profitability and vendor participation
• Direct all marketing initiatives, from trade shows and digital campaigns to sales incentives and product launches
• Drive strategic bid analyses for major prospective and existing accounts
• Grow private-label and exclusive product lines with sales, category, and culinary teams
• Oversee freight control and specialized merchandising teams
• Build and develop a high-performing procurement team

Requirements

• 5+ years of procurement or purchasing leadership in food or grocery distribution
• Proven vendor negotiation skills, including pricing, programs, and supplier funding
• Inventory management expertise that improves margin and cash flow
• People leadership experience, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
• Experience supporting key account retention and new business bids
• Onsite in Davenport, IA

Skills

• Marketing and promotional program experience (trade shows, catalogs, product launches)
• Private-label or exclusive brand development experience
• Freight management or logistics oversight
