About the Role
The Vice President, Operations is responsible for leading the Retail, Technology, and Healthcare operations team to top-tier supply chain performance, winning and leading with customers. This executive will establish Ryder as one of the top-performing supply chain organizations in the industry, driving transformation through logistics strategy, distribution operations, transportation planning, and customer interaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team to deliver the highest service level, lowest cost, and value-added services to customers.
- Provide leadership and direction for warehousing and transportation strategy, organizational structure, and long-term vision for the Retail product.
- Maintain and report performance against key service metrics internally and externally.
- Create efficiencies and leverage distribution and transportation costs while ensuring high service levels and developing strong customer relationships.
- Maximize utilization of all available resources to effectively manage distribution operations.
- Deliver against financial targets and budgets.
- Plan, build, maintain, and improve distribution tools (facilities, processes, equipment, and systems) to continually enhance service excellence.
- Develop and execute inventory management strategies that reduce costs.
- Interface with customers to ensure effective visibility into the supply chain strategy and maintain strong working partnerships.
- Establish critical performance metrics, proactively resolve problems, introduce best practices, and foster positive change.
- Confront complex operational issues, determine solutions, and motivate staff to implement changes promptly.
- Directly responsible for the performance management, engagement, and career development of direct staff.
- Work with senior leaders to align employee activities with policies and total rewards objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience at a large consumer, distribution, 3PL, or retail company in supply chain leadership roles focusing on distribution and logistics.

- Depth of knowledge in evaluating tradeoffs, including investments in automation, number of locations, inventory management, and delivery speed vs. cost.
Travel
Estimated at 50%.
Pay
Salaried position with a pay range of $200,000 – $240,000. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on role and performance.
