VP of Compliance & Regulatory Governance
About the Role
As CBRE’s Vice President, Compliance & Regulatory Governance, you will lead a high-impact team responsible for the strategic oversight and operational execution of compliance governance functions. This role will serve as a critical bridge between global compliance subject matter experts (SMEs)—including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-Corruption, Third Party Management (TPM), and Data Privacy)—and Field Compliance Officers across the organization. You will ensure that compliance policies, controls, reporting, and training are effectively designed, implemented, and maintained to meet regulatory expectations and business needs. This position reports to the Deputy Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's success in providing high-quality real estate, facilities management, and project management services to CBRE clients across the globe.
What You’ll Do
Lead and develop a global team across the following pillars: Reporting & Data, Control Documentation & Assessment, Operational Management, Global Policy & Training and Regulatory Change Management.
Drive the strategic vision for compliance governance and technology enablement.
Act as a senior advisor to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and other executive stakeholders.
Oversee the development and maintenance of global compliance policies and procedures.
Ensure consistent documentation, gap assessment and testing of compliance controls across compliance programs and business units.
Align controls with the enterprise risk management framework.
Own and lead the end-to-end regulatory change management process, ensuring that changes in laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance are identified, assessed, and operationalized across applicable compliance programs and business units.
Design and maintain a structured law library covering priority jurisdictions, establishing jurisdiction prioritization logic and ensuring the regulatory baseline is built to scale.
Cover the joint regulatory change process, bridging the compliance and legal functions to align on regulatory interpretation, impact assessment, and response timelines.
Establish reporting cadences, escalation protocols, and governance routines that give the regulatory change management program a durable and auditable foundation.
Lead the design and delivery of compliance dashboards, metrics, and reporting for senior leadership.
Partner with data and technology teams to enhance data quality, analytics, and automation in compliance processes.
Identify, test, and develop AI use cases that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance operations, including control testing, monitoring, reporting, and risk detection.
Oversee the global compliance training program, ensuring content is current, engaging, and tailored to various risk areas.
Promote a culture of compliance through effective communication and awareness initiatives, including CBRE’s Ethics & Compliance Ambassador Program.
Serve as the primary liaison between global compliance SMEs and Field Compliance Officers.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent implementation of compliance initiatives.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. institution
A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience (including progressive leadership experience) with at least 5 years of that experience in-house at a highly-matrixed organization (and with at least 2 years in Big 4 preferred).
Experience implementing corporate compliance programs, including knowledge of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, relevant SEC compliance program guidelines, and the U.S. DOJ Guidance on the Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs, as may be amended from time to time.
A strong track-record leading teams with experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.
Experience developing and presenting training to business leaders and legal professionals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.
Leadership skills to motivate key stakeholders to achieve broad operational targets with impacts on own job discipline, multiple job disciplines, and department.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Extensive organizational skills and an inquisitive mindset.
