Purpose & Scope

Responsible for the origination and structuring of commercial real estate loans across a broad range of property types (multi‑family, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, mixed‑use, special use, land development, single‑family lot development) and markets, with sophisticated sponsorship and deal structures. Coordinates closely with leadership, the MMCRE Loan Closing, and Asset Management Departments to close credit facilities.

Responsibilities

• Drive business development efforts, cultivate leads to originate loans, grow deposits, and sell other Bank products.
• Review proposed lending opportunities with potential customers and recommend those that fit the Bank’s lending criteria.
• Analyze property operations (historical and projected) and assess budget adequacy and contractor strength when applicable.
• Evaluate the creditworthiness and management capabilities of sponsors/guarantors.
• Negotiate and prepare term sheets that accurately communicate loan terms.
• Perform due diligence, including site visits, lease reviews, and documentation reviews.
• Review market analysis and appraisals to verify accuracy of property operations and market position.
• Interact with the Loan Closing and Asset Management Departments to ensure proper execution of loan closing, booking, and transition to servicing.
• Communicate timely, consistent, and professional updates to clients and internal/external parties, managing expectations and overcoming underwriting and closing issues.
• Collaborate with Closing and Asset Management Departments to provide superior service to customers while protecting the Bank’s interests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the full‑cycle loan process and regulatory environment for various real‑estate types.
• In‑depth industry knowledge, including current and emerging economic conditions.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data, interpret results, and present findings.

• Discretion, sound judgment, and confidentiality in decision‑making.
• Professional maturity to discuss complex issues with real‑estate owners and developers.
• Ability to articulate transaction strengths, weaknesses, and issues in written and oral presentations.
• Initiative to accomplish work objectives and manage multiple priorities in a changing environment with deadlines.
• Capability to work under minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and ARGUS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field, or commensurate work experience (required).
• Three (3) or more years of experience in commercial real‑estate underwriting or asset management (required).
• Experience in a commercial real‑estate institution or firm (preferred).
• Prior experience presenting real‑estate investment and/or lending opportunities to an investment board or committee (preferred).
