The Vice President, Human Resources provides executive level leadership and is a strategic business partner that promotes and implements the organizations core values and mission through strategic planning and management of human resources programs; responsible for developing and executing human capital strategy; maintains strong relationships with leadership teams and internal customers.
About the role
- Acts as a strategic business partner that develops and leads the Human Resources team in the areas of organizational and performance management, succession planning, change management, recruitment and employee relations.
- Serves as an advisor to the senior leadership team and a strategic advisor on human capital matters and their impact on organizational culture.
- Affirms and develops an HR team to create an innovative HR function that supports the organization.
- Provides leadership and oversight for HR programs and policies, ensuring that they are current, competitive, within financial constraints, and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Establishes and implements HR initiatives that effectively communicate and support the organization’s vision and strategic plan.
- Pairs with key personnel and HR business partners and HR leaders to create, maintain and revise employee policies and participates in the WVUHS System-wide HR policy committee to represent the hospital.
- Functs as a strategic business partner to the leadership teams regarding key organizational and strategic issues.
- Liaises with WVU Medicine HR Shared Services to deliver the highest quality of HR services.
- Maintains human resources indicators to identify problem areas and make recommendations to address deficiencies that will help better support the organization.
- Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
- Supports the system-wide HRBP, Employee Relations and HR Policy committee.
Responsibilities
- Provides consultancy, advice and coaching to all employees of the company; partners with leaders to effectively support, propose and lead initiatives that embrace a culture of high performance and drive success.
- Implements change management plans to meet the continually changing needs of the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, or related field required. Master’s preferred.
- Prior experience and knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory standards in the healthcare industry preferred.
- Prior experience in Healthcare with an emphasis on strategic HR business partner relationships preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience and knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory standards in the healthcare industry preferred.
- Prior experience in Healthcare with an emphasis on strategic HR business partner relationships preferred.
- Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and/or SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certification desirable and preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted business partner with a strong business acumen and independent judgment.
- Possess strong business acumen and the ability to identify correlations between Talent initiatives and business outcomes.
