VP, Equity Research - Healthcare Technology & Distribution
Work location: New York, New York, United States of America. Full-time role (40 hours per week) within TD Securities.
About the role
Conducts comprehensive analysis and research on individual corporations, industries, financial markets, and/or economic developments to support business needs and publish high-quality research reports and presentations. Provides critical insights and industry information to support advisory services.
This is a highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial expertise in a complex field, with knowledge of broader related areas. The role involves leading advanced modeling and interpretation of insights within research reports, integrating cross-functional knowledge, and solving complex problems. Acts as a technical expert and lead, influencing senior stakeholders and driving business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the modeling and interpretation of advanced insights within research reports.
- Integrate knowledge of sub-function’s overarching strategy to develop solutions across multiple functions or operations.
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and industry environments; recommend courses of action and best practices.
- Solve or lead others in solving complex problems; develop new solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Communicate difficult concepts effectively, converting information into compelling business context and advice for senior stakeholders.
- Act as a technical expert, integrating cross-functional knowledge to impact business objectives.
- Work closely with sales and trading groups to develop new relationships and provide ongoing guidance to analysts and associates.
- Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with institutional clients and the broader community.
- Compile and evaluate multiple data inputs for research reports, including initiating coverage reports, thematic reports, quarterly reporting initiatives, and marketing packages.
- Publish high-quality, comprehensive analysis and research on industry sectors, companies, financial markets, and economic developments.
- Develop business relationships and generate profits through regular research publications.
- Provide service to internal and external clients in the form of information, expertise, analysis, and opinions on market information, financial markets, economic outlook, and investment strategies.
- Stay abreast of market data, economic information, key industry developments, and internal policies and regulatory standards to maximize profitability.
- Demonstrate governance, control, and risk management behaviors aligned with TD policies and practices.
- Ensure programs, policies, and practices comply with internal and external requirements and align with business priorities.
- Exercise discretion in managing confidential information and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on complex risk situations.
- Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development and delivery of presentations to management or broader audiences.
- Analyze data at the functional or enterprise level, using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, and assess program effectiveness.
- Monitor service and productivity; implement continuous process and performance improvements.
- Actively manage relationships across business lines, corporate functions, and control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes.
- Participate as a team member, supporting a positive work environment that promotes service, quality, innovation, and teamwork.
- Provide thought leadership and industry knowledge; participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.
- Stay current on emerging trends and developments; grow knowledge of the business, tools, and techniques.

- Mentor others, share knowledge and experiences, and leverage best practices to develop team skills.

Requirements
- Undergraduate degree.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- FINRA SIE, Series 63, 86, and 87 certifications, or willingness to obtain them.
- Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
- CFA designation preferred for publishing analysts and associates.
Pay
Base pay range: $225,000 - $225,000 USD per year. TD is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities. The base pay offered may vary based on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs.
