About the role

Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. Founded in 1917, CPG provides pension benefits, life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing. The Content & Creative Services (CCS) team creates compelling communications to support CPG’s strategic plan and three lines of business using traditional and digital media.

The Vice President of Digital Experience and Creative Services will report to the SVP of CCS, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for CPG’s digital experience and creative services functions. This role ensures a consistent and engaging user experience across all digital assets, with direct accountability for brand standards, design quality, and user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with senior management, clients, and others on web and online service delivery strategy, translating needs into workable solutions.
  • Develop web and online service delivery strategy and roadmaps with business unit executives, aligning with client needs, organizational priorities, and design best practices.
  • Serve as the “voice of the audience” and subject matter expert in web strategy for cpg.org, the intranet, and self-service applications, advocating for clarity, usability, accessibility, and cohesion.
  • Provide creative direction, critique, and final quality oversight for digital and visual work, ensuring consistent brand and user experiences.
  • Own, maintain, and enforce CPG brand and graphic standards across all communications, including digital, print, multimedia, and experiential channels.
  • Lead creative services for documents, publications, conferences, online ads, signage, promotional items, web, intranet, PowerPoints, emails, and online learning.
  • Oversee user interface, user experience, and multimedia design for websites and web-based applications, emphasizing intuitive navigation and engaging experiences.
  • Lead visual storytelling initiatives, including video production, photography, and multimedia content.
  • Oversee and govern the CPG photo and media library, establishing standards, workflows, and usage guidelines.
  • Serve as business owner or key stakeholder for client and employee online services, including websites, self-service portals, intranet, and microsites.
  • Oversee publishing governance for website and intranet content in partnership with CCS Editorial.
  • Own the delivery, optimization, and performance measurement of email communications, tracking engagement metrics.
  • Direct, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams across creative services, design, UX, and digital production.
  • Foster a culture of strong design thinking, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Regular in-person, on-site interaction for relationship building and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Technology fluency, including AI literacy, with the ability to evaluate and guide digital and AI-enabled tools in creative and user experience contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience leading creative design and digital experience teams, with responsibility for visual systems, web design, and user experience outcomes.
  • Strong design sensibility, with the ability to evaluate creative work and uphold high standards of visual and interaction quality.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Exemplary leadership, staff coaching, and team development skills with executive presence.
  • Knowledge of best practices in online services, marketing communications, creative operations, usability, accessibility, and interface standards.
  • Ability to align strategic vision with corporate goals and execute initiatives.
  • Ability to make sound decisions with limited information and time.
  • Understanding of CPG’s lines of business, operations, and products is a plus.

Qualifications

  • MBA or post-graduate degree preferred; combination of education and experience considered.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, with 5+ years of management experience.
  • Experience presenting to executive-level (C-suite) stakeholders.

Schedule

Hybrid work environment requiring in-office presence Tuesdays through Thursdays, with remote work flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

Pay

Salary range: $175,000 - $219,000.
