VP, Data Products & Solutions
About the role
Compass is seeking a Vice President of Data Products & Solutions to lead the transformation of Compass International Holdings' proprietary data estate into a dual‑capability product engine. The role owns the full product vision, strategy, and P&L for both internal enablement tools (FP&A, recruiting, brokerage operations, agent productivity) and external commercial products (B2B API pipelines, AI training datasets, economic research models). The mandate is to deliver world‑class product experiences that agents cannot live without while converting adoption into measurable EBITDA contribution and building external revenue streams.
Responsibilities
- Product Vision & Change Leadership: Develop and champion a compelling product vision that aligns technical teams, earns executive confidence, and drives outcome‑focused product thinking.
- Dual‑Portfolio P&L & Monetization: Drive financial impact across internal high‑adoption tools and external commercial data products, turning proprietary signals into direct revenue.
- Value Engineering & Product Transformation: Instill a “Data as a Product” operating model where value creation, unit economics, and cost rationalization are built into solutions from the start.
- Silent Storytelling & UX Excellence: Set standards for data visualization that turn complex, high‑volume datasets into clean, self‑explanatory experiences for executives, agents, and institutional buyers.
- Data Ethics & Agent Trust: Maintain an unconditional firewall around individual agent and client data while leveraging aggregate intelligence for external products.
- Executive Partnership & Cross‑Functional Leadership: Operate as a peer to C‑suite leaders, translating data capabilities into business strategy and embedding data products in core decisions.
- Internal Champion & Value Evangelist: Lead internal marketing of the team’s work, communicating progress and impact to turn early adopters into advocates.
- Team Building & Culture: Recruit, develop, and lead a world‑class team of product managers, fostering a culture of user empathy, disciplined discovery, visual craft, and quantitative accountability.
Requirements
- 10+ years in Product Management, with at least 3 years in a VP or executive role leading a data product organization.
- Proven track record of converting a data or analytics organization into a direct revenue driver.
- Value Engineering mindset: design for financial outcomes, unit economics, and operational ROI from the outset.
- Demonstrated mastery of visual storytelling with a portfolio of world‑class data visualizations.
- Entrepreneurial P&L experience across internal productivity platforms and external commercial products (API pipelines, AI datasets, monetized research).
- Deep understanding of data ethics and the ability to build commercial value while maintaining strict privacy safeguards.
- Fluency in modern data‑stack technologies (Databricks, BigQuery, Kafka, dbt, API design) sufficient to earn engineering trust.
- Executive presence and storytelling ability to brief boards, pitch institutional buyers, and demo features to top‑producing agents.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field; MBA a plus.
Success expectations
- 30 Days – Map the Value Landscape: Complete audit of data assets, infrastructure costs, UI/UX quality, and product surfaces; identify where value is created, destroyed, and where the flywheel can accelerate.
- 90 Days – Set the Direction: Publish a unified Data Product Strategy & EBITDA Impact Roadmap aligned with Finance and Engineering; launch KPI frameworks measuring adoption and revenue impact.
- 180 Days – Ship Things That Matter: Deploy modern market‑intelligence tools to agents; launch first external API channels for institutional buyers; activate lead‑attribution dashboards; reduce infrastructure cost‑per‑query.
- 1 Year – The Transformation Is Visible: Data Products organization contributes positively to enterprise EBITDA; 70%+ of active agents use intelligence features; Compass market reports become industry‑cited authority; external data products generate direct commercial revenue.
