About the role
The Corporate Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and serve as a senior leader on the finance team. This role involves close collaboration with business leadership and finance teams to lead the consolidated accounting function, ensuring robust business controls and effective financial reporting processes. The Corporate Controller will drive strategic initiatives, influence decision-making, and adapt to evolving business needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies, adapting to changing circumstances; develop, implement, and document procedures to optimize the cash conversion cycle.
- Lead Treasury operations, daily cash management, and banking activities, ensuring compliance with support from Senior Management.
- Champion continuous improvement by maintaining short-, medium-, and long-term improvement goals to enhance accounting department processes, reduce cycle time and errors, and improve timeliness of accounting functions.
- Oversee the completion of the annual audit, tax returns, and regulatory compliance reports, including timely filing of K-1s, sales/use tax returns, property tax renditions, and related tax filings with support from outside CPAs.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial statements and related analysis, identifying, escalating, resolving, and documenting accounting issues as needed.
- Manage financial impact transactions to ensure timely and accurate processing, including monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts with assessment for recoverability and completeness.
- Serve as the accounting/finance subject matter expert on the cross-functional M&A integration team.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the reliability of the financial reporting system.
- Lead the full implementation and management of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (AX365) accounting ERP and provide leadership to emerging data insights teams.
- Oversee weekly, monthly, and annual closing processes, including managing external audit and tax (direct and indirect) return processes.
- Collaborate with the CFO and Corporate FP&A team to provide financial results analysis and reports for inclusion in Board packs to shareholders.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Demonstrated growth mindset with strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Highly ethical, confidential, credible, and with a clean financial and background history.
- Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.
- Accountable for performance of self and the accounting team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of account relationships and reconciliations under US GAAP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (AX365), SAP, or Oracle; ability to trace transactions through the financials and articulate full upstream and downstream effects of accounting decisions.
- Experience with ERP transition, build-out, or implementation.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with US GAAP and financial reporting in service, manufacturing, or technology environments.
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in business, accounting, economics, or related fields.
- C.P.A. required; Big 4 public accounting experience highly desired.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and finance.
- 3+ years of experience managing accountants and accounting/finance processes.
- 2+ years of experience in a role equivalent to controller responsibility.
- Ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) highly desired.
- Experience with private equity a plus.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position based in part at the Corporate Headquarters, combining office and remote work. The role requires sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or traveling.
