About the role
The Vice President and Head Of Operations Of the Metallurgical Complex (MET) is an integral member of the US PGM Operation executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic workforce planning and organizational development.
- Develop and adhere to all facility capital and operating expense budgets.
- Oversee the development and execution of a production plan to ensure the achievement of production volume and product quality to meet deadlines and cost goals.
- Establish and execute short- and long-term planning strategies that both recognize and reduce risk to the operations, while maximizing the value of the resource.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders from site to site in the operational chain, ensuring alignment of objectives and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Engage with regulators, industry bodies, and communities to ensure compliance and strengthen reputation.
- Enhance U.S. PGM Operations for ICCM principles.
- Work collaboratively with technical and support services, human resources, safety, supply chain, finance, and process areas to achieve all business plan objectives.
- Create a culture of continuous improvement by providing appropriate platforms.
- Lead the development of the overall processing strategic plan, architecture, and operating philosophy.
- Communicate goals in cooperation with both the executive and site leadership teams.
- Support safety and health management and environmental systems and regulatory compliance.
- Reinforce compliance with company, department, safety and occupational health, and OSHA policy and regulations.
- Ensure a safe work environment with a continuous focus on improving the safety culture and safety performance of the metallurgical facility.
- Facilitate the development of all Met Complex expenses and capital budgets, including workforce planning.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, damage, or process delays.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental-related risks to safeguard business continuity and reputation.
- Foster cooperation, collaboration, and innovation to ensure that goals are set and met.
- Demonstrate positive two-way communication, fair and consistent administration of Company policies and procedures, and responsiveness to employee concerns.
- Drive operational excellence through consistent standards, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement.
- Engage proactively and positively with group technical and internal/external audit teams.
- Collaborate with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
- Ensure a favorable institutional image for the operations, through business and social responsibility actions within the processing environment.
- Liaise with external service providers and partners to design and implement operational tools, technologies, and practices.
- Install a culture where employees take personal responsibility for safety and contribute to a safe, value-driven environment.
- Ensure adherence to equipment and production plan commitments and budgets.
- Ensure employee training and development is occurring in MET.
Qualifications
- Have a Bachelor's degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering from a recognized institution (master's degree preferred).
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Have experience in Microsoft (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) and project-based software.
- Have proficiency in the preparation of operating and capital budgets.
- Have the ability to develop and lead a complex multi-disciplinary team.
- Have working knowledge of ISO 14001, 9001, 45001.
- Have a solid understanding of OSHA and environmental regulations/compliance.
- Have the ability to analyze and interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Have sound knowledge of the total PGM value chain.
- Have in-depth understanding of all metal accounting measurements, controls, systems, and principles.
- Have decisive leadership skills with solid organizational and planning skills.
- Have the ability to think laterally and strategically.
- Have strong ability to coach and mentor others.
- Have demonstrated success in scaling operations and driving efficiency improvements.
- Have strong financial acumen.
- Have experience with smelting, refining methods (precious metal processing preferred) and assay laboratory.
- Have proven track record in senior operational leadership roles.
- Have a minimum of 12 years relevant process plant experience, with a mix of production, maintenance, and project background preferred, with eight years in a technical or operations leadership role.
- Have at least 10 years of experience in a related role, of which five should have been at a senior management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
