Volunteer: Volunteer Recruitment Strategy Consultant

About the role

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help Maya's Hope create a sustainable volunteer recruitment and retention strategy that will support our continued growth. As an organization serving children with disabilities and special needs in the Philippines and Ukraine, we rely heavily on dedicated volunteers to conduct family interviews, review applications, assist with fundraising, communications, and program support. Ultimately, a stronger volunteer infrastructure will allow Maya's Hope to serve more children with disabilities and special needs in the Philippines and Ukraine, providing access to medical care, therapy, and essential daily needs that improve their quality of life. Maya’s Hope works to improve the quality of life of orphaned, impoverished, and special-needs children on a global scale. Whether providing funding for loving caregivers, vitamin-rich formula, or access to quality medical care, Maya’s Hope improves lives, one child at a time!

Responsibilities

• Help Maya's Hope create a sustainable volunteer recruitment and retention strategy to support continued growth.
• Develop a clear roadmap for attracting, screening, onboarding, and retaining qualified volunteers.
• Build a strong pipeline of mission-driven volunteers, particularly interviewers who assess families applying for assistance.
• Establish systems and processes that can be replicated and scaled as programs grow.
• Work directly with the Executive Director and key volunteers who oversee recruitment and program operations.
• Receive access to current volunteer recruitment materials, role descriptions, application process, and onboarding resources.
• Receive information about the existing volunteer structure, recruitment efforts, challenges, and organizational goals.
• Participate in regular check‑in meetings for feedback, questions, and review of recommendations.
• Contribute to implementing practical recommendations that can be realistically executed by a volunteer‑run nonprofit.
• Foster clear communication, timely feedback, and a collaborative partnership to create a sustainable volunteer recruitment framework supporting long‑term growth.
