About the role
Volunteer at South Platte Park to give back to the community and enrich the lives of others. Participate monthly in specialty areas like stewardship, native garden maintenance, leading field trips, and more.
Responsibilities
- Participate in monthly volunteer activities in various specialty areas.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and listen to supervisory staff.
- Learn and demonstrate maintenance and proper use of tools or equipment.
- Show discretion and independent judgment.
- Interact tactfully and appropriately with the public and other agencies.
- Adapt to changing priorities, weather events, and special work requests.
- Lead groups in interpretation positions and maintain safety and control.
Requirements
- Must be 10 years old or older, with parental/guardian supervision for 10-15 year olds.
- Experience in gardening, landscaping, wildlife, plant identification, grounds maintenance, education interpretation, public speaking, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to follow workplace safety procedures and listen to instructions.
- Able to learn and demonstrate maintenance and proper use of tools or equipment.
- Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Able to interact tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately with the public, staff, and other agencies.
- Able to adapt to changing priorities, weather events, and special work requests.
- For interpretation positions, able to communicate with and lead a group in the field and maintain safety and control.
Qualifications
