Volunteer: Social Media Strategy for Early Development
About the role
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We are transitioning golden eyes project from development toward initial program implementation. Although our mission, organizational model, and the foundations of our child-empowering initiatives are established, much of our work is still in development and we have not yet built a consistent social media presence or meaningful following. We are requesting professional guidance on how to begin building an authentic audience and how to communicate our blend of child empowerment, art & design, regenerative thinking, and community-based initiatives while programs, partnerships, and our creative ecosystem continue to take shape.
Responsibilities
- Develop a social media strategy appropriate for our current developmental stage, including recommended content pillars, target audiences, platform priorities, posting cadence and formats, audience development and engagement approaches, and performance metrics.
- Develop a manageable content-development workflow and scheduling framework that our team and a future Social Media/Communications Intern can follow, including content planning and batching, responsibilities, review and approval.
- Provide guidance for communicating gep’s development authentically, including how to share programs, partnerships, creative work and organizational progress as they take shape without presenting developing work as already implemented.
- Develop an initial implementation roadmap with prioritized next steps, achievable early goals and metrics that can evolve as gep’s programs and organizational capacity grow.
- Create a simple playbook or onboarding resource that can be used to orient a future Social Media/Communications Intern and support consistent implementation of the strategy.
