Overview
In 1998, Ray Buchanan, a United Methodist minister, founded Stop Hunger Now. In 2017, the organization rebranded to become Rise Against Hunger. After serving as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War, Buchanan emphasized the importance of "commitment to something larger than yourself" in achieving missions. This philosophy drove Rise Against Hunger to focus its efforts on areas where it could make a significant impact, expanding beyond meal packaging and distribution to include various hunger-fighting programs.
