At Jefferson RISE, we believe every student deserves a real path forward. Volunteers may be asked to assist on a one-time, occasional, or recurring basis, depending on availability and school need. Specific days, times, and commitment expectations will be discussed and confirmed with the assigned staff supervisor prior to placement. Volunteers must check in and out at the front office for every visit and are expected to follow the schedule agreed upon with their supervisor. Volunteers play a valuable role in extending the capacity of our team — assisting with classroom activities, events, and administrative tasks, with opportunities to support areas such as clubs and athletics as needed — while helping create a safe, welcoming, and well-supported environment for students. The ideal volunteer is dependable, positive, and committed to the mission of Jefferson RISE, bringing energy and support wherever needed while working under the guidance of assigned staff. Key Responsibilities Support and Assistance Provide support to assigned staff member(s) with classroom activities, events, or administrative tasks as neededAssist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of school events, performances, or programsHelp supervise and support students during designated activities under staff directionAssist with organization, materials management, or logistics as assigned by supervising staff Culture and Conduct Model Jefferson RISE's expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible at all timesMaintain a positive, professional demeanor when interacting with students, families, and staffFollow all school policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including check-in/check-out proceduresMaintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters Collaboration Communicate proactively with the assigned staff supervisor regarding availability and schedulingFollow direction and guidance provided by staff at all timesRepresent Jefferson RISE positively within the school and broader community CANDIDATE PROFILE Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferredAbility to pass a background check as required by school and state policyReliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to agreed-upon schedule or eventsComfortable working with adolescents in a school setting Culture and Fit Believes deeply in the mission and students of Jefferson RISEDependable, flexible, and willing to support wherever neededPositive, patient, and respectful in interactions with students and staffOpen to guidance and direction from supervising staffActs with integrity and puts student safety and wellbeing first Compensation This is an unpaid volunteer position. Volunteers do not receive wages, stipends, or employee benefits through Jefferson RISE Charter School. While there is no monetary compensation, volunteers gain meaningful experience working alongside educators and staff, contribute directly to student success, and become part of the Jefferson RISE community. Volunteers may also be recognized for their contributions through school events, appreciation initiatives, or letters of recommendation upon request.
