About the role

ENGin matches English‑fluent volunteers from around the world with Ukrainian conversation partners for weekly online conversation practice. Since launching in 2020, ENGin has connected over 38,000 Ukrainians with over 32,000 volunteers; 99% of learners report breaking the language barrier after three months and 79% of participants form lasting friendships. Over 32,000 volunteers have been matched, including many student and teen volunteers, with 85% of teen volunteers reporting lasting friendships. As a teen Conversation Partner you will be paired with a Ukrainian teen close in age for weekly one‑hour video chats, helping them build confidence speaking English while sharing your own culture and gaining cross‑cultural experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly one‑hour video chats with your matched Ukrainian peer.
• Help your partner practice conversational English.
• Share aspects of your life, culture, and interests (e.g., music, gaming, school, pop culture).
• Build a genuine friendship through cultural exchange.

Requirements

• Be over the age of 13.
• Demonstrate English fluency.
• Have a reliable internet connection.
• Commit to at least 1 hour per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
• Obtain parental/guardian consent (required for teen volunteers).
